HAAST
South Westland The hotel changed ownership in December 2003 and has been undergoing major refurbishments to date. The main hotel complex including reception, restaurant, house bar, guest lounge and the awesome Café Bar have just finished a full refurbishment. Here we serve Wild West Coast fare and our 80 seat Buffet restaurant (seasonal/on demand) is open from 6-00pm. We have a great selection of New Zealand and Imported ales, wines and spirits. Our Café Bar is open from 11.00 am daily. Sky TV is also available in the Cafe Bar.
Haast is the gateway to the Wild West Coast, one of the most stunning, scenic and untouched regions of New Zealand. Here you can see rare wildlife in it’s native habitat, walk in rainforests unchanged for thousands of years, explore pristine, glacier-fed rivers and stroll on windswept beaches below the towering peaks of the Southern Alps.
This is a region so unique it has been designated a “World Heritage Area”, explored by few and inhabited by even fewer. It’s a great place to get away from it all and get closer to nature than perhaps anywhere else in the world.
Ask at the Haast World Heritage Hotel reception desk about scenic flights to Franz Joseph, and Fox glaciers, Milford Sound and Mount Cook. Day walks, boat trips, jetboating, hunting and fishing trips, personalised tours can also be arranged. Just ask our friendly staff. We are quite easy to find:
From Wanaka - go past town site, and we are about 3 kms up the road just before the huge one lane bridge which takes you across the Haast River. You have to turn left to access our driveway, but you can see it from the main road.
If you are coming from the Glaciers, after the Haast one-lane bridge, you can see us on your right hand side. Take the next turn right, to access our driveways. We are located across the road from a Petrol station.
Either way, when you are at the bridge, you can't miss us.
